Taylor- Lowe Expedition 2: The Wild East

As you are probably well aware, me and Taylor are planning another little trip into the less- well known parts of Europe.
We think newcomers would benefit from this trip.
We will again use Inter-rail tickets (£229 for months train travel).
The basic plan is to travel to Slovenia first, taking around 26 hours. Train to London. Eurostar (£40). Then we will either go via Brussels or Paris (suppliments required). We will get an overnight train through Austria.

When arriving in Slovenia, our first port of call will be the capital, Ljubljana. I visited briefly last year, but didn't see much of it. Then we will go to the lakeside resort of Bled- similar to Austria, and Northern Italy- but half the cost.
Slovenia is cheap, but not bargain basement, since this is a relatively rich area, and has a lot of tourists.
Costs- accomodation - £15. Full Meal £3-4. Beer £1

After this we shall head south into Croatia, which is very similar to Slovenia- jagged mountains, clear lakes, and rolling fields, along with some good beaches. Rijeka, Split, and Dubrovnik are the intended points of call.
Prices are around the same or maybe slightly cheaper than Slovenia. A bus/ferry will need to be taken from split since no railway line was built to Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik is recognised as being one of Europe's most beautiful cities.

After this we intend to travel North-east to Sarajevo, Bosnia. This is new territory, but is fairly safe now everything has calmed down. If we can get visas, we will go onto Belgrade, but this doesn't look 100% likely at the moment.
If not we shall go back to Croatia, and then through Hungary to Romania.

Romania and Bulgaria are cheap, and are still fairly undiscovered. The exact locations we will visit are not yet decided.
We intend to travel into Istanbul, Tukey, and then west into Greece. There will also be an excursion north from Thessaloniki into Macedonia.
The trip home will be on the Greece- Italy ferry, and train back from Italy.

All in all it should be a great trip, and we hope to see a good turnout. If you only want to travel part of the way, then that will be great- but you will end up paying proportionally more, and may not get full moneys-worth out of your ticket.
